The Galileo Open Air Cinema will be doing a special outdoor movie event on Christmas Day in Cape Town this year. This new tradition features a screening of Dr Seuss’ The Grinch, which is suitable for the whole family, date night, or an outing with friends. Plus there’s an on-site mini-market where you’re able to indulge in mouth-watering sweet and savoury snacks to create your own picnic experience.

Take in the stunning backdrop of Kirstenbosch Garden while watching Benedict Cumberbatch take the lead as The Grinch in 2018 American computer-animated Christmas comedy film, Dr. Seuss The Grinch. The Grinch is a cynical and solitary creature who decides to steal Christmas from the Whos of Whoville, a cheerful and festive community. However, his plans take an unexpected turn when he encounters Cindy Lou Who, a young girl who teaches him the true meaning of Christmas. The Galileo Open Air Cinema promises to liven up Christmas Day in Cape Town and add a festive touch with holiday-themed decor, for the ultimate photo opportunity. Tickets are R275 per person and include popcorn, a candy cane and a Santa hat. You’ll also receive a backrest and blanket, ensuring ultimate comfort and a perfect opportunity for post-sunset family cuddles.
Doors open at 6pm, and before the movie starts at sunset around 8:30pm. Do make sure to join in giant lawn games, enjoy a picnic, play card games, snap some photos, and mingle with fellow movie enthusiasts.

The Galileo’s on-site mini-market serves up mouth-watering pizza, succulent burgers, and delicious wraps. They offer vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and Halal options to accommodate all dietary needs. For drinks, unwind with wine, beer, and non-alcoholic tipples from the bar and barista stalls.
