Gallerist Georgia Eccles started her first art business in 2002, exporting collections of South African art by established and emerging artists to the UK. There, the works were exhibited across London at pop-up exhibitions, art fairs and galleries.
The exporting business later turned into an agency representing several Cape Town-based artists, which evolved into the need for Art in The Yard: a local gallery in Franschhoek.
The aim behind the venture is to give focus to artists with fresh ideas, while still holding true to the values of skilled craftsmanship. Art is selected from upcoming, local and international artists.
BAER DESIGN designs the furniture on show in the gallery.
It’s a Danish-inspired look, with hand crafted products made using authentic carpentry. Along with furniture they also design and manufacture kitchens.
