The details
Cool Runnings in Cape Town is Africa’s first downhill tobogganing track, allowing groups and families to go hurtling down a half-pipe in a bobsled as they speed through the track's twists and turns.
The intricate course of steel tracks and wheeled bobsleds is safe and allows for incredible views of the city and the scenic location. The rides are perfect for both adults and children, with pair riding allowed to accommodate younger guests. Children under three years are, however, not allowed on the ride.
The ride starts at the foot of the Durbanville slopes where riders settle into their toboggans before cables haul them to the start of the course, no hill climbing is necessary. Once at the top of the hill, riders begin the 1.25 km ride navigating 17 corners, S-bends, and a tunnel, with a brake lever equipped in case they want to slow down.
Cool Runnings also features a bar and a cafe serving boerie rolls, burgers, and pizzas. Free entry is also available for team-building events, school outings, and birthday or bachelorette parties.
