Groot Constantia is the oldest wine-producing estate in South Africa and represents one of Cape Town's Big 6, a number of iconic destinations in the city. The estate offers various experiences like the Visitors Route, the Jonkershuis and Simon's restaurants, voice map walking tours, a wine and gift shop, and more.
On the Visitors route, guest would be able to explore the original Cape Dutch Manor House, with its exhibition of furniture, paintings, textiles, ceramics, brass and copperware offering insight into the life of a successful 18th to late 19th century Cape farmer.
Visitors can also visit the Cloete Cellar, enjoy the wine and cultural history museums, visit the tasting room for a wine tasting, and observe wine storage and drinking vessels from antiquity to the early 20th century. Visitors may also receive free access to three audio walking tours of the vineyards, historical manor house and the modern-day production cellar.
Panel, object and archaeological displays give an overview of Groot Constantia's history, including the role of slavery on the estate. A carriage collection is exhibited in the coach house at the Jonkershuis complex.
