Ibis Gallery is a small gallery in Montagu featuring paintings and ceramics by Carolyn Metcalfe and handcrafted furniture by Hennie Kok. It also stocks original fine art paintings and drawings, original furniture and other wooden items which are Shaker and country inspired.
One can also find hand-thrown earthenware pottery, terracotta and maiolica handmade tiles, vintage oriental carpets, and various other interesting crafted things.
The curator’s aim is for the Ibis Gallery to be a “rich and varied trove of lovely and affordable things”.
Their emphasis is not on good financial investment pieces, but rather leans towards well-chosen, beautiful and well-crafted items made by people who love what they do. The gallery attempts to keep their prices reasonable because they want to encourage local artists to keep working, and selling.
