The details
The historic Rust-en-Vrede art centre comprises an art gallery, cafe, clay museum, contemporary ceramics, and various art studios. Art exhibitions and cultural events, such as art discussions, walkabouts, artisan markets, music evenings and poetry readings, are regularly hosted.
There are three exhibition spaces at Rust-en-Vrede. A main gallery consisting of two rooms, Salon A and Salon B, and a more informal entrance space, Salon C, which is used for small solo or group exhibitions.
The Rust-en-Vrede Art Gallery showcases artworks by established and emerging artists. It’s a non-profit venue intended to promote tradition, culture and South African arts.
Exhibitions change monthly and are freely open to the public. Artists who wish to exhibit are requested to submit work and a short proposal to the gallery management. All members serving on this committee are nominated and meet monthly to assess new exhibition applicants with the curator.
This property features the only clay museum in the Western Cape, and houses a mosaic studio, a jeweler, a design studio and florist. There’s also a tranquil garden, as well as a restaurant, the Yoco Eatery.
