The details
Tokara Wine Estate is most renowned for its award-winning wines, its fusion of art and wine, its breathtaking scenery, olive oil production, and its fine dining offerings. It is a destination that combines the best of South African wine, art, and truly unforgettable culinary experiences.
To fully immerse yourself in the experience that Tokara has to offer, the wine and olive oil tasting is a good recommendation. Simply follow the stone-lined stairway up to the winery, where you’ll find the wine tasting lounge. It’s a beautiful, architecturally designed space with unrivalled views over False Bay to Table Mountain. Here you’ll also notice the fermentation cellar. Take a moment to check it out, and please do ask questions about the winemaking process.
And while you inhale, swirl, sip and spit, don’t forget to try the delectable cheese platter and delicious olive oils. The olive oils are among the finest and are often paired with their wines.
Tokara Restaurant opened its doors in October 2001. It was one of the very first iconic winery restaurants established in the Cape Winelands. In her first year as head chef, Carolize won the 2020 JHP Gourmet Guide’s “Haute Performance Award” to be named South Africa’s most promising chef. And to top it all off, the dramatic views over Stellenbosch and False Bay make dining at Tokara Restaurant an experience to remember.
Tokara Estate offers the perfect backdrop and facilities for your event—whether an elaborate wedding, a corporate meeting, or an intimate occasion with family and friends. Tokara Delicatessen is a popular venue for corporate cocktail parties, birthday parties, kitchen teas, and much more.
