Momiji Restaurant at Tjing Tjing House

Situated on the middle level of the Tjing Tjing House building, Momiji exudes tranquillity and refinement. From the sunken wooden booths adorned with soft padded cushions to the clean and simplistic decor, every detail has been thoughtfully crafted to offer a serene dining experience.

A unique and reasonably-priced wine list, a full spirit list including Japanese whisky, and sake, and a Rooftop cocktail list are available. A special cocktail crafted by the bar manager is on offer at Momiji only, in addition to the Rooftop cocktail list featuring tantalising drinks like Cherry Blossom Martini (Suntory Roku Gin, Yuzu, Verjuice and salted Cherry Blossoms).

The simplistic decor of Momiji Restaurant makes their adorable eating utensils and table decorations pop out, enhancing the display and experience of every plate personified as a work of art.

Highly-skilled chefs showcase an unwavering passion for modern Japanese culture and cuisine in every dish they prepare, crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail.

A sensory Omakase set menu

On Saturday evenings from 6pm, Momiji opens its doors for dinner, offering a unique and often playful menu that changes with each season. This season, the chefs have crafted an exquisite modern sushi Omakase menu that fuses familiar South African flavours with traditional Japanese techniques. A different fish is brought in fresh, daily, from local sustainable suppliers – allowing guests to indulge in a new flavour every week.

The set menu’s fresh garden vegetables also have a story to tell. The restaurant has access to two gardens in partnership with Urban Harvest, where they grow, harvest, and use their own organic produce. One of the gardens, at Chapel Street Primary in Woodstock, is shared with the school. Through sponsorship of the maintenance, they empower the local community and school children.

Please note that due to the nature of the Omakase menu, Momiji cannot accommodate any changes or dietary requirements at this time.

Unique patron cards placed at the table give more detail about each dish.

This is an intimate experience, with only 18-20 bookings taken for this set menu on any given Saturday – so make sure to book ahead.

It is worth noting that reservations are essential and can easily be made via the website, Dineplan or email.
